Everyone's friend

The other day I had a brief conversation with an acquaintance concerning toxic relationships and healthy relationships.
Very interesting conversation, I had asked what the connection was with some well known troublemakers and divisive people.
The answer I found very interesting. "I don't want to have these people attacking me like they do you." My reply was a typical Pastor Scott answer - "So you will live a life where you please everyone." Impossible as we all know, but you can give it a try. You need to please Jesus and those who are important in your life, that certainly does not include everyone.
Now don't misunderstand me, I am not speaking of being an agitator. The fact is somewhere in your life you are going to have to believe in something and stand for something. Now as a Christian the Word of God is our standard with which we live by. In fact you will discover that the closer you walk with Jesus and obey His Word, you will have absolutes that will define your life. Not everyone will appreciate this, mainly because people lose their control in your life.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:10,11 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
I have to say I am a blessed man. Sometimes it is painful but nonetheless when you are persecuted because of Christ, your God will be with you in a very supernatural way. When Jesus said "and say all kinds of evil against you falsely" He wasn't kidding.
Jesus said in John 15:20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. Remember Jesus was hated, and not received by everyone.
Truth is either embraced or resisted. The stronger the sin and rebellion in a person will determine how intense and how long they will resist.
So today be of good cheer, you don't have to be accepted by all people. This reminds me of President Obama, as of today I have no idea what he stands for or what he believes in. It seems the harder he tries to be all things to all people more people are losing confidence in his leadership. He would be better off saying this is what I am and what I believe in. The truth about that is he wouldn't have been elected President if he would have done so.
When you meet Jesus and give an account for your life, will he ask you why where you connected to those who violated my Word and hurt peoples lives? How can you say you love me when you fellowship with those who attacked and tore down my Kingdom and Church?
Be bold, walk with Jesus. Your true friends will love you through thick and thin, the weak and uncommitted will drift away. You will live a very blessed and fruitful life because you stand for righteousness and truth. Jesus will honor you commitment to Him.
